To schedule your FREE One-Day Trial Class or One-Week Trial, please choose one of the following options:

Please wear comfortable and/or athletic attire.  

• Short/Long Sleeve Shirt or Rash Guard 
• Shorts, Pants, Leggings 
• Flip Flops or Sandals 

Note: Tank Tops and Zippers (Metals) are NOT ALLOWED on the Mat

Here are some tips and academy rules to prepare for class:

• shoes are not allowed on the mat
• shoes must be worn in the lobby & restroom of the academy
• no child-parent interaction during class
• always ask permission to leave class
• keep your fingernails and toenails trimmed short
• metals and plastics are not allowed on the mat
• food and gum are not allowed on the mat
• secure long hair with a hair tie
• limit restroom use; go before class
• bring water, and only drink water during breaks

When you arrive at Checkmat Portland, please follow these steps:

1. Check-in – Stop by the front desk to check in and sign a waiver if you haven’t already.
2. Store your belongings – Place your items in a cubby and your shoes in the white shoe cubbies.
3. Keep your shoes on – Wear your shoes at all times until you step onto the mat.
4. Meet your instructor – We will introduce you to the instructor of your scheduled class.
5. Set up for class – Place your water bottle next to the edge of the mat.

Yes, we welcome drop-ins for those who already train in Jiu-Jitsu and are visiting us. Our drop-in fee is $30 per day.

• Before You Arrive: Please contact us in advance or check our schedule to ensure there's a suitable class available.
• If you'd like to pay and sign the waiver ahead of time, email us!
